A Romantic Proposal at Hambledon Vineyard

20th October 2014

Hambledon Vineyard is delighted to announce it was chosen as the setting for local villager Dan Disney to propose to his long term girlfriend Laurie Jordon at the weekend and she said yes!

The couple have been together for 4 years and moved to the village of Hambledon just over a year ago with their two young children from Portsmouth to enjoy family life in the country. Dan had a clear idea his girlfriend was fond of the Vineyard as she mentioned how nice it would be to get married there one day. He had the beautifully designed ring, the setting and was just waiting for a yes.

Dan had arranged with MD Ian Kellett to have a private tour of the vineyard and winery and when Ian had to coincidentally take a call, the couple took a romantic stroll around the vineyard only to find a bottle of Hambledon sparkling wine placed strategically on a bench overlooking the beautiful South Downs when Dan decided to pop the question.

Dan told us, “I’d been planning to propose since June this year, and actually designed a bespoke engagement ring and helped make it as well. I thought of any and every possible way of proposing, here in the UK and even abroad, but couldn’t settle on something that felt perfect. I wanted the perfect ring, and the perfect moment. I then had the thought of how nice it would be to get engaged where we would then eventually celebrate our wedding reception. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and both love and are so fascinated by the vineyard, a truly beautiful and very interesting place. The sparkling wine was amazing , we enjoyed our glass at the bench, then bought some wedding magazines, and enjoyed our evening looking at ideas over another glass of sparkling wine.”

Ian Kellett commented, “We are so pleased for Dan and Laurie, they are a lovely couple and we are delighted to have played a small part in creating such a romantic moment. We hope they will choose Hambledon as their wedding venue as it would be wonderful for them to have their reception in the same place as where they got engaged.”
