Biddenden Vineyards Planting Day

19th April 2023

4 Vineyards to visit in Kent, England

An exclusive first chance for you to join Biddenden Vineyards for a special behind the scenes event and day to remember!

Ushering in the next era for Kent’s original vineyard, join Biddenden as they open the doors to the first stage of the life of a vineyard – planting!

Having celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2019, Biddenden is now looking ahead to the next 50 years and, on Saturday the 27th of May, they will be planting a total of around 5,000 new Pinot Noir, Riesling and Schönburger vines as part of an exciting and exclusive planting day. Led by the Barnes family, guests will be given the rare opportunity to witness a vineyard being planted as well as enjoying a full tour, talks from two generations of Biddenden and a very special food and wine pairing led by Steve Parker, author of A British Cheese on Toast.

Join them at their home on Gribble Bridge Lane on the 27th May and be part of Biddenden Vineyards history.

The day will include a drink on arrival, talks from Tom, Julian and Sam Barnes, a full demonstration of state-of-the-art planting technology, a vineyard tour and a very special food and wine pairing, plus a goody bag to take home,
this truly is an event not to miss.

Two sessions will be held, starting at 9:30 and 13:30. Please select your chosen session when buying your tickets.

Priced at £45 per person, places are extremely limited so click here to buy your tickets today.

“We are keen to involve Biddenden’s supporters in a part of the process which usually takes place behind closed doors, but is actually where the magic begins,” says Tom Barnes.

“Putting the vines in the ground is the first step to creating a bottle of wine that will then be released in 5 years time.”

“We’ve been producing wines for five decades now with a focus on still wines, Ortega being our flagship variety and these new additions in 2023 will add to our current Pinot Noir, Riesling and Schönburger plantings, allowing us to continue our family’s journey for the next 50 years. Biddenden’s site lends itself to still wine making and these additional plantings will enable us to grow and develop our range. We look forward to welcoming our guests to Biddenden and anyone who attends the planting day will experience a rare insight into a vineyard being planted, joining us for a day to remember.”
