Have you ever thought about taking your Cocktails up to the next level, the spicy level, going up the range, like from a Korma to a Tikka Masala, if you’re one to challenge your taste buds with turning up the heat, then this Cayenne Pepper Fizz Cocktail, combined with a Gold Medal Winning Sparkling Wine in the Hint of Spice Category will be a perfect first step for the risk-takers and a conquerable challenge for those who want to test themselves.

Before we create the Cocktail, I want to introduce you to an amazing German Sparkling Wine, one which wowed our judges with the quality and the unique flavours it delivered, earning it a worthy Gold Medal in the Hint of Spice Category.

Motzenbacker – Rosé Brut

Motzenbacker – Rosé Brut – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Pink floral soft red strawberry and herbal aromas.”

Flavour – “Red berry, pink floral and smoky citrus and a saline close, the combination of all this gives of a most enjoyable herbal spiciness in the palate.”

Gold Medal in Hint of Spice at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2021.

Now that we have the Sparkling Wine to go in the Cocktail, it’s time to create it, so hopefully, you’ll join me in creating and tasting this Cayenne Pepper Fizz Cocktail.

Cayenne Pepper Fizz Cocktail – Turn Up The Heat

All you’ll need is 3 ingredients.

  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Motzenbacker Rosé Brut
  • Spiced Plum and Clementine Gin

Along with a glass and a couple of plates of small tubs to create the Cayenne Pepper Rim

  1. Sprinkle a bit of your Cayenne Pepper Rim onto a palate
  2. Wet the rim of your glass by dipping the top into a small amount of water.
  3. Keeping the Glass upside down, move it over to the Cayenne Pepper Rim and roll it slowly around, so to attach the pepper to your glass.
  4. Turn your glass back upright and pour in 15mls of your Spiced Plum and Clementine Gin, this will help kick up the spicy level and add some extra flavour. (You can of course use another spirit if you prefer)
  5. Then top up with 100mls of your Motzenbacker Rosé Brut.

You are now done, you have created a Cayenne Pepper Sparkling Wine Cocktail, so let’s give it a taste.

Aroma – “You’re getting a bit of everything on the aroma, the Cayenne Pepper around the rim is making itself known, you’re getting orange cany and orange peel from the spiced Gin and then you’re getting the beautiful floral notes and red berries coming from the Motzenbacker Rosé.”

Flavour – “A well balanced spicy cocktail, getting a little from the cayenne pepper at the start, you get notes of spiced plum and orange from the Gin, the Sparkling Wine then comes in with creamy red berries and floral which adds in neutralizing the spice a touch, but only fool you in thinking it’s over because when you lick your lips, the cayenne pepper runs rampant around your taste buds to close off this rollercoaster of a ride.”

Thank you for reading and hopefully enjoying this article and Cocktail, stick around for some more amazing Cocktails with a kick coming out soon, if they haven’t already!
