Champagne by the Swimming Pool

The reflection of the sun, bouncing off the mesmerizing clear blue water inside a swimming pool can act like a siren’s call during the summer season, here at Glass of Bubbly, we aim to make your poolside experience that much more exciting, by giving you the ultimate list of Champagnes to enjoy while sitting by or floating in the pool.

The Ultimate Champagne Pool Guide

Keeping Bubbly Cool By The Pool

We love enjoying Champagne in the sun, but unfortunately Champagne doesn’t enjoy being the sun for very long, so while chilling out in the pool the best thing to do is set up a little shaded area over where you place your bottle of Champagne, putting it in an ice bucket filled with water and ice would be an even better idea.

If you don’t have a shaded area, then I’d recommend just placing it inside an ice bucket with a lot of ice, and placing a white cloth over the top, the sun will of course melt the ice and eventually hear up the bottle, but depending on how many people are enjoying a glass, it might be empty before that happens.

Champagne Pool

If you search ‘Champagne Pool’ on Google, you think you’d find a swimming pool full of Champagne, but what you’ll actually find is a geothermal feature within the Waiotapu geothermal area in the North Island of New Zealand.

It is a hot spring that received the name Champagne Pool from the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2), similar to a glass of bubbling Champagne.

It naturally formed over 900 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption, it’s 65 m (213 ft) in diameter with a depth of 62 m (203 ft) and is filled with an estimated volume of 50,000 m3 (1,800,000 cu ft) of geothermal fluid.

The temperature of the water in the pool is maintained at 73 °C (163 °F) to 75 °C (167 °F).
