Champagne Guy Charbaut

Champagne Guy Charbaut has vineyards in Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne; where 70% of its grapes used are Premier Cru.

Wine growers from father to son for three generations, in 1930, the grandfather André planted his first vines in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the greater part of which is situated on the most favourable hillsides classified 90 to 100% in the vintage scale, combining both a production of Champagnes of quality with an excellent presentation. André’s son, Guy, continued the activity of wine grower and in 1960 he planted about 10 hectares of vines. Guy’s son, Xavier, who is now heading the House, has vineyards that now extend to about 20 hectares.

Selection

Sélection Brut
Exists also in Brut and Demi-Sec, this Champagne is a typical vintage wine. Blend of three vine varieties: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, aged on lees 36 months long as a minimum before sediment removal.
It is an optimal quality for aperitifs and buffets.

Cuvée de Réserve Brut
This vintage is a selection of grapes gathered from the oldest vines of the House. Some Chardonnays come from the Côte des Blancs, what gives to the wine both a perfect balance and high standard.
Aged on lees 48 months before sediment removal, it is a very complex and refined quality.

Rosé Brut
A rosé de cuvaison, what means the grapes macerate with their skins for 36 hours at the beginning of the fermentation. The color is adjusted by an addition about 10% Chardonnay that lightens the whole. The maceration technic is not common and requires a great experience.

The greatness of the grape variety: CHARDONNAY, the origin of these grapes grown in our prestigious vineyards of Bisseuil, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Grauves, blended from a single year. After ageing on the “lies” for more than ten years, making this exceptional vintage worthy of the label of such a prestigious Champagne..

2005 Millésime Brut
A blend of two thirds Pinot Noir and one third Chardonnay. A vintage is a wine of a same year but a blend of different vineyards, in order to obtain all the due harmony of a very great Champagne.
