Champagne Vilmart & Cie

The Champagne House Vilmart & Cie was founded in 1890 by Désiré Vilmart in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Since then, the House has been leaded by passionate sons and sons-in-law who enabled this small House to become famous

The house owns 11 acres of vineyards around the village of Rilly. The vineyards are planted with 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. The area in the Montagne de Reims has some of the best soils in Champagne – an ideal place to grow high quality wines.

Vilmart Champagnes are sophisticated and complex, but also powerful, expertly crafted by the family. No chemical fertilizers, insecticides or herbicides are used in the winemaking at Vilmart.

“I do wine first, Champagne afterwards” – Laurent Champs, Chef de Cave

The house is open for visits and happy to help guests discover the traditional food and wine of Vilmart.

Singature Champagne: Grand Cellier Premier Cru Brut

70% Chardonnay – 30% Pinot Noir
Vintages 2010 – 2011 – 2012

On the first nose, the wine reveals white flower aromas (honeysuckle, lilac) citrus notes as well as fresh butter and cream. After airing, as it is getting warmer, this Champagne exhales another spectrum of aromas.

The wine reveals spicy notes of ginger, lemongrass, which were unsuspected until then. The palate is lively with a delicate effervescence. The beautiful quality of the acidity (present throughout the tasting) is especially remarkable. The frank vinosity of the wine (roundness and alcohol) gives an impression of strength and freshness.
