Szigeti and Chicken Stew Dumplins

The suspected birthplace of Chicken Stew with Dumplings is said to either have been in the Southern United States of America or Canada during the Great Depression, but one thing is for sure, Americans in the Southern and Midwestern United States love this dish.

The Dumpling is of course a small part of the Chicken Stew with Dumplings, so I thought I’d give you a bit of info on its origin, it’s part, probably fact and part legend, it’s believed that the dumpling was first created by a Chinese medicine practitioner named Zhang Zhongjing who lived during the Han Dynasty which lasted from 206 BC to 220 AD.

The legend part of the story goes that it was a cold winter, with many people becoming sick, Zhongjing sought a way to help warm up his people, he took mutton, chilis and herbs, then wrapped them up in dough and steamed them, so to bind it all together, this new creation is said to have helped his people survive the winter by preventing frostbite and improving blood circulation.

The Sparkling Wine

The Szigeti Winery was founded in 1991 by Peter Szigeti, it is located in Gols in the Austrian state of Burgenland. Peter and his cellar master have both spent a lot of time ensuring that his Sparkling Wine meets the highest quality and captures the varietal characteristics of the grape varieties.

Interesting Fact: When looking at their Prestige line you will notice an emblem of a Knight, this is a tribute to the Knight of Gols.
