The widely loved and classic Christmas movie, Elf starring Will Ferrell as William ‘Buddy’ Hobbs, released on November 14th 2003 taking in $222 million at the box office.

Also starring other known names like Zooey Deschanel, James Caan, Peter Dinklage and more, the film is about a human who has been raised by elves in the North Pole, who heads to New York City to find his biological father.

Elf – Did You Know

• The script for Elf was written in 1993 with Jim Carrey in mind to play Buddy.

 

• Will Ferrell was offered $29 million to star in a sequel Elf 2 but turned down the role, he said “I killed the idea of a sequel. $29m does seem a lot of money for a guy to wear tights, but it’s what the marketplace will bear.” Later he added: “I just think it would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back in the elf tights: Buddy the middle-aged elf.”

 

• Before Will Ferrell had appeared on Saturday Night Live, he had worked as a Mall Santa for a while.

 

• From November 2010 to January 2011 Elf the Musical ran on Broadway, with it also coming to the UK, it took in more than $1.4m in one week, which was a record for the theatre.

The Christmas Movie Cocktail

Ingredients

• Simple Syrup
• Green Juice (apple, kiwi and mango)
• Sparkling Wine
• Lemon Skin
• Green sweet laces

How To Make 

Use the first measurements for a smaller glass as I used in the pictures or the second for a normal sized glass.

1. Pour in 10 – 20mls of Simple Syrup into your glass.
2. Add in 30- 60mls Green Juice apple (kiwi and mango).
3. Top up with Sparkling Wine
4. Place lemon skin on top of the cocktail
5. Then add in some green sweet laces
