The increase in sales for English and Welsh sparkling wine is continuing to gain momentum, with Waitrose reporting a 177% increase in only one week.

Supermarkets such as Marks & Spencer’s are stocking more UK wines due their popularity with customers – Waitrose now stocks over 100 English and Welsh wines, the largest range in any supermarket.

With sales nearly doubling every year, the quality of the wines is also increasing with greater support to home-grown wineries.

It is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the winemakers working to build a great reputation, leading to it’s well-deserved success. Their experience grows as the market does, which means constant development and improvement.

The good climate in the UK has also helped improve the grape crops, easily rivalling those grown in France.

More well-known vineyards such as Nyetimber, Ridgeview, Camel Valley and Gusbourne are leading the way in showcasing the excellent quality of English sparkling wine. Welsh wine is also gaining attention within the industry, producing high quality and tasty sparkling wines. Now is an exciting time to be involved in the UK wine industry, with more global recognition and awards it looks to be a bright future.

Also, don’t forget English Wine Week is coming up!
