Devil’s Bridge Cocktail

Making a deal with the devil is not something you should enter into lightly, sometimes the devil is in the detail, a trickster, and a deceiver at every turn.

He’s risen from the depths beneath to present us with a gift, a cocktail with a devilish kick, yet smooth and rich with ripe golden fruits, it’s up to you if you would like to accept his offering because we all know, nothing from the devil comes without a price.

The Sparkling Wine

The story of Penine Simonič begins in the late 1990s, when Ivan Simonič decided to focus on making Sparkling Wine, he became the first Sparkling Wine producer in Bela Krajina, and the first bottle of Semiška Penina was crafted in 2000.

Aroma – “Smooth, almost creamy golden fruits, ripe white peaches, pear drops and pear blossom delicately touch on the aroma.”

Flavour – “Very smooth, silky, golden and white fruits, grapefruit, persimmon, and more fruits from the exotic side of the world, with notes of foliage and white floral on the palate.”

Devil’s Bridge Rum

High in the Cambrian mountains near Aberystwyth, the Devil was exploring Wales for the first time when he found a woman, separated from her cow by a river…

He offered a bridge, in return for the first soul to cross it.

When the woman returned, the devil’s dance of victory quickly turned to shrieks of horror as she sang brightly, tossed a loaf of Bara Brith bread over and watched her faithful dog go fetch…

The Devil, now disgruntled, disappeared and was said never to be seen again in Wales…

Devil’s Bridge Rum is inspired by this legendary tale of Welsh spirit, with an unexpected dryness in the finish.

Devil’s Bridge Spiced Rum – Tasting Notes – “Smooth and rich with sweet spices, and wild fruits, which wrap themselves around the palate, with notes of black tea, tanning you with its Devilish charm.”

Devil’s Bridge Cocktail

Ingredients

• Sparkling Wine
• Rum
• Sugar Cube
• Cinnamon
• Nutmeg
• Cayenne Pepper

How To Make The Devil’s Bridge Cocktail

• Place 1 Sugar Cube in your Glass
• 1 small dash of Cayenne Pepper
• 1 dash of Cinnamon
• 1 dash of Nutmeg
• Pour in 20mls of Rum
• Top it all of with 100mls of Sparkling Wine

Devil’s Bridge Cocktail Tasting Notes

Aroma – “A blend of cinnamon and nutmeg with smooth notes of sugar, white fruits, peaches, and a devilish spicy undertone rising from beneath.”

Flavour – “Warmth from the festive spices, and smoothing sensation from the ripe golden and white fruits from the sparkling wine, the cayenne pepper sneaks onto your palate under the guise of the festive spices and expands throughout the mouth heating up the place, the sugar cube dissolves quickly as you drink adding a layer of sweetness, keeping the devilish pepper at bay for longer.”
