Have a Silky Christmas with Champagne Sanger

21st December 2023

Last Christmas I had the pleasure of dedicating my words to the magic of Xmas and all the ornaments that adorn our homes: twinkling lights, festive fir trees embellished with glass baubles, golden stars, sprigs of holly, white candles and spicy cinnamon and vanilla pot-pourri.

For this year, my dear fizz lover, I’ll tell you about fabrics and how they intimately evoke wines of any kind.

It’s December and as time goes by, the sunlight wanes and dark and cold takes over. A sharp breeze invites us to enjoy a cosy afternoon at home by drinking a cup of tea, a sweet hot chocolate or a glass of wine to warm body and soul. it’s undeniable that the main sensation we get from all of them is a comforting pleasure that immediately warms our hearts. And this is not because somehow we connect the warmth with the sense of well-being given by the sun, but if we dig deeper in our thoughts, I guess we would link that warm pleasant sensation with all the embraces we received in our childhood, all the caresses we had as children and that enveloping, reassuring feeling we got from our blanket in the cradle. Our first spontaneous and intimate emotions we had in the early stage of our lives.

Wine, by our side, is a faithful companion able to offer us similar, intrinsic virtues. When enjoying a glass of wine I’m sure that everyone has experienced that warm embracing feeling coming from a full-bodied red wine as if it was a wool sweater or a gentler sensation from a white wine as if it was a linen scarf caressing our palate delicately.

When it comes to Christmas, I would say if there is a wine capable of contemplating different textures and adding a touch of liveliness that would be Le Champagne.

Champagnes are mild and embracing in the mouth and, by adding a touch of vibrancy, they give us a cheerful euphoria that we love to experience again and again. At the first sip, they can envelope our palate as tenderly as a cashmere scarf realising all their sublime flavours. While enjoying the last drop they leave us an impression of a delicate caress as if it was a silky stole that envelops our mouth. Being captivated by all the textures Le Champagne has to offer we can’t wait anymore to open a bottle of Champagne and let Christmas celebrations begin.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Champagne Sanger, a remarkable Champagne Maison started in 1952 thanks to the vision of 16 winegrowers, mostly from the Montagne de Reims, who were keen to promote the components of the Champagne terroir establishing the Sanger house in Avize. Sanger is spread over 13 hectares, including 42 crus that represent the entire Champagne appellation offering an exceptional gustatory journey in Champagne.

And here is the magnificent Terroir Natal Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from Chardonnay grapes cultivated on the typical limestone bedrock of the village of Avize.

Terroir Natal Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Sanger Brut
100% Chardonnay.

This wine offers an intense gold colour enlightened by a fine mousse. It gives off notes of yellow apples, white peach and nectarine and stone fruit. Soft minerality enhanced by light saline notes. On the palate, it’s zesty and smooth with delicious lemon tones. It embraces the mouth with refined minerality offering flavours of pastry and bread yeast. Its long finish is marked by outstanding acidity and good intensity.
It’s tender and silky on the palate and will definitely conquer you with its elegance and a touch of joyous sparkle.

Enjoying a glass of Champagne can evoke sensations that we would never have expected. I refer to not just all the brilliant colours, captivating aromas and amazing flavours it can offer, but its innate ability to create a magical atmosphere, to allow us to relive la grandeur of France and its long tradition of making a sublime wine.

It only remains to me to wish you, my dear fizz lover, to receive the greatest and sincere gift of all: a tender embrace from your beloved, whether it is from your relatives, your fiancé or just a friend keep in mind that simple gesture comes from the deepest and warmest part of us; our heart. From the bottom of my heart to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël, Buon Natale…

With merriness,

Stefania Ruffo
