Heidsieck & Co. Monopole is one of Champagne’s oldest and most respected Champagne houses. Established in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck in Epernay, Heidsieck & Co. Monopole was one of the original ‘Grande Marques’ of Champagne. Heidsieck & Co. Monopole is based and produced in Epernay.

Since 2014, the Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group has obtained the double label of ‘Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne’ and ‘High Environmental Value’. These labels testify to the many years of work invested to lead the Maison towards sustainable viticulture which secures today an extremely reduced use of products to protect the vine compensated in day to day work by the utilisation of new methods like the biological control of insect pests.

On November 3, 1916, the Jönköping expedition with 3,000 bottles of Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Champagne, destined for the Imperial Army headquarters in Saint Petersburg, was sunk by a German submarine.

In July 1998, at the eastern tip of the Baltic Sea, a Swedish submarine expedition found the wreck of the Jönköping at a depth of 64 meters and brought up 2,400 bottles of Champagne Heidsieck & Co. Monopole vintage 1907. The wooden cases, the darkness, the constant temperature and the pressure of the water are all elements that have allowed the bottles to remain in good condition. The laboratory analysis will reveal a very balanced wine, not maderized and with an excellent taste.

The first of these bottles was sold at Christie’s in London the same year for four thousand sixty eight dollars, the highest price ever reached for a bottle of Champagne.

In July 2010, bottles over 200 years old were discovered in a shipwreck in the Baltic Sea.

In 2017, on the occasion of their anniversary, Heidsieck & Co. Monopole reissued the 1907 design. It consists of the house’s coat of arms as well as the majestic Bald Eagle, symbol of the United States in 1782.

Their range of Champagnes include the Blue Top, Rosé Top, Silver Top, White Top, Gold Top and Cuvée Impératrice, their prestige cuvée.
