If The World Was Ending What Would You Drink

You’ve been gifted the knowledge of advanced notice, we have just one hour left, whatever the world-ending event is, you have time to pour yourself one last drink to toast the world goodbye, what would you drink?

Considering you decided on some form of Sparkling Wine, then you have landed in the right place, it’s time to pick our world-ending bottle of Sparkling Wine together and go out with a glass in your hand and our heads held high.

When you look back through history, hundreds if not thousands of people have made public predictions about the end of the world.

  • A lady named Jeane Dixon predicted that Armageddon would take place in 2020, I understand when people get frightened by these predictions, but she previously predicted the world would end on February 4th, 1962 and it’s safe to say she wasn’t right.
  • David Meade had predicted the world would end on the 23rd of April 2018, he predicted the rapture would take place, this is after his previously failed prediction one year prior in 2017.
  • People believed that the end of the ancient Mayan Calendar, created in the 5th century and ended on the 21st of December 2012, would mark the end of the world.
  • During the Cold War, Jim Jones, a cult leader stated he had visions that a nuclear holocaust was to take place in 1967.

There are over 1,000 years of ‘end of the world’ predictions, which you can see listed on Wikipedia, the real fear doesn’t come from cult predictions or religious people, the real fear comes from a lack of information or in worse cases a hysteria caused by misinformation.

It is near improbable that any one man can predict the end of the world, so when looking at the end of the world predictions, many will understandably disregard any specific date, it’d be hard-fought to find any conclusive day that the world will come to an end, the best bet would be to look at science, it’s stated that the sun will likely burn out and die in 10 billion years, so you could say the world will end in 10 billion years, but I doubt very much that in that length of time Earth will be the only planet with human life, so even if that date does mark the end of Earth, it doesn’t mark the end of the human race.

Asteroids

Asteroids appear in many disaster films acting as the ‘end of the world’ event, the dinosaurs know all too well what it’s like to live through one, but what is an asteroid how worried should you be?

An Asteroid is made from metallic or rock, without an atmosphere and is too small to be classified as a planet, they are remnants left over from the formation of the Solar System about 6.4 billion years ago, NASA state that there are currently 1,113,527 asteroids known to them.

When deciding if to fear Asteroids crashing down on Earth, the average person should not, it is said that an Asteroid the size of Apophis which is 370 meters or 1000 feet across will impact the Earth in about 80,000 years, but thanks to the advancements in science and military defense, I’m sure in 80,000 years we should be able to eliminate if not at very least reduce the damage caused.

When we look at Meteorites, which are simular to Asteroids, one the size of a football field (160 feet across) hits the Earth every 2,000 years, causing significant damage to the landing zone and only once every few million years an object large enough to threaten Earth’s civilization comes along.

The Cold War was set between America and Russia, but an all-out war would have certainly included every country under the sun, so all eyes were on them, the constant fear was that one country would make a false move and cause Nuclear War.

The real war was between Communism and Democracy and so when Communist Cuba was gifted Nuclear Weapons, the situation escalated, with an estimated loss of life of 80 million Americans if both Russia and Cuba launched on the U.S. It was down to John F Kennedy the President of the United States to defuse this situation.

A Nuclear conflict is not the beginning of war it is the ending of one, you have a weapon so powerful that it would cause so much destruction that it has the potential of wiping out an entire country, but it’s not instant, if Russia & Cuba had launched on America, America would have enough time to retaliate, being unable to stop the Nukes from hitting their shores, but being able to send back just as much firepower as they would receive, so despite the countries being able to launch Nukes, neither country would have really wanted to.

The closest the world has ever been to Nuclear War was during the Cuban Missile Crisis, with the U.S. alert system raised to Defcon 2 in preparation for Nuclear War, they had almost 150 intercontinental ballistic missiles ready and 23 Nuclear armored b-52 bombers deployed where they could hit the Soviet Union directly, this move enabled Kennedy to gain the upper hand in negotiations and with the help of his brother Robert F Kennedy, they came up with an offer for Khrushchev (the 1st Secretary of the Soviet Union) that he would accept, but later that same day a confrontation in the Atlantic almost started Nuclear War. U.S. ships had deployed signaling depth chargers to alert a Soviet submarine that it was appeaching the blockade, the Soviets believed they were being attacked, which caused the captain to order the release of its Nuclear Torpedoes, but for the order to be executed, it required all 3 officers on board to approve, only 2 out of the 3 officers accepted the order, Vasili Arkhipov refused the order and single-handedly prevented Nuclear War.

The undead rising from beneath the ground, and feasting on the living, is a scary thought but based on fiction.

When we think of Zombies, there are various different kinds that appear in our minds, the Walking Dead’s slow-moving zombies, the normal Zombies of 28 Days Later, or the super-fast World War Z Zombies.

The first reference to ‘Zombie’ had nothing to do with the undead, it was written in 1819 referring to a Brazilian Rebel leader named Zumbi.

When looking back to the first concept of a Zombie, Archaeologists have unearthed graves dating back to Ancient Greece which contained skeletons pinned down by rocks and various other heavy objects, there is no proof of anything like a zombie being the reason behind this, but its an interesting thought.

When you type ‘Alien‘ or ‘Aliens’ into Google, the top result of each is the Alien film franchise, we are yet to obtain or be privy to any concrete proof that Aliens are out, but the CIA did release thousands of UFO documents to the public, basically confirming that there are objects out there that they have no idea who made them or where they came from.

It is improbable to believe there is no Alien life in existence, considering the math of there being more Earth-like planets than there are grains of sand on Earth, with those odds, it seems like a bad choice to bet against Alien life, but to what extent, when we discover an alien species, will it be the classic green or grey alien, will it a microorganism, maybe they will look like us or maybe there’s a planet out there ruled by giant chickens.

Some of the most famous Alien accounts are the Roswell Incident, The Aurora Texas UFO Incident, Aliens in the skies over Nuremberg and the likes of Romans and Egyptians possibly mentioning unidentified flying objects.
