Interview With The Founder Of Jaya Prosecco Tancredi Pascale

Exploring the flavours and styles of Sparkling Wine can take you all over the world, meeting incredible people, discovering so many wonderful things and exploring picture perfect locations.

In this feature I speak with the very forward thinking, kind and charming, Tancredi Pascale, founder and CEO of Jaya Prosecco, one of the most sold Prosecco brands in Switzerland, with awarding winning Prosecco labels and an incredible Trophy winning Rosé Spumante, we discuss how Tancredi journeyed into the wine industry and founded Jaya Prosecco, what we can looking forward to from the future of Jaya, along with some fantastic bubbly and food pairings.

It’s Lovely To Speak With You Tancredi, Before We Start Exploring Your Incredible Range Of Award Winning Sparkling Wines, Can You Share With Us A Little About Yourself And How You Launched The Jaya Brand?

“Thank you, Oliver and all the team of Glass of Bubbly, for letting me talk about Jaya and Prosecco. Swiss – Italian, I grew up in Switzerland, studied in Switzerland, and had my first business there and then I worked in the luxury industry for more than 8 years. Those experiences gave me the opportunity to travel a lot, mostly in Asia. That gave me the opportunity to learn about Luxury business and international business.

In 2017, I added the opportunity to take over our Family vineyards in Valdobbiadene. I wanted to continue what we have been doing for more than 80 years but not in the same way. Prosecco is currently the most sold sparkling wine worldwide, far exceeding Champagne. In the last 10 years, annual Prosecco production has increased from 200 million bottles to almost 900 million, all types taken together. Prosecco owes much of its international success to the popularity of cocktails in which it is included as an ingredient, in particular the Aperol Spritz or more recently the Hugo. This is why my first goal is to restore the prestige of Prosecco and provide consumers with information to help them rediscover it. In order to do that I have changed the name of the brand to Jaya which means ‘victory’ in Sanskrit. It’s short, consumers can remember it, and I wanted to have a nice label which amplifies the brand and not ‘Prosecco’.

So for me, following this siren call would be out of the question.”

When It Comes To Pairing Sparkling Wine With Food, Do You Have Any Favourite Combinations That You Would Personally Recommend?

“Well, it depends on which type of Sparkling wine. I will start with Jaya first. The Jaya Dei Colli Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra dry will perfectly go with a nice fish, pasta with salmon or seafood. You can also have it with a wonderful dessert like a Tiramisu or chocolate cake.

Jaya Brut DOC is definitely perfect for the aperitivo and some cold cuts. It would also be a great wine with veal or seafood.”

For Anyone Getting Married This Year, Looking For A Perfect Glass Of Bubbly, Which One Of Your Labels Would You Put Forward For That Very Special Moment?

“I would go with the Jaya Rosé Spumante and Jaya Brut DOC. You will definitely give the perfect touch of bubbles for this moment.”

Can You Share With Us Some Of The Future Plans You Have For Jaya?

“Our goal is to grow the name brand by improving our quality every year. Today Jaya is one of the most sold Prosecco in Switzerland and we are developing Asia. We do not want to be everywhere. We only work with customers who care about the quality and not only the price.”

Where’s The Most Memorable Place You’ve Enjoyed A Glass of Bubbly?

“To be honest, for me the place doesn’t matter. What is important is what I do have in my glass. It can be Jaya, it can be another Prosecco or a Champagne”

Thank you Tancredi, for sharing your words, knowledge and experience with us and we at Glass of Bubbly wish you the very best for the future!
