The Sparkling Wine – Radgonske Gorice

The biggest and one of the most well-known Slovenian Sparkling Wineries is Radgonske Gorice, producing Sparkling Wine for everyone, supplying Slovenian Supermarkets and offering something a little more aged and complex for the wine connoisseur.

Radgonske Gorice is also the oldest Sparkling Wine producer in Slovenia, they started 170 years ago in 1852 and now produce 4,500,000 litres of wine every year, with a production that high, it makes sense that Radgonske Gorice is the largest producer of Sparkling Wine in Slovenia.

The Rum – Tilambic

This Overproof Rum was crafted in the Republic of Mauritius, a country to the right of Madagascar which is next to the continent of Africa, with a total land area of 2,040 km2, the environment in Mauritius is tropical on the coastal regions with forests in the mountainous areas.

The estimated population is around 1,265,000, with the language being Creole, but it is also an English-speaking and French-speaking nation.

Mauritius was first discovered by the Arabs back in the 16th Century but they decided it wasn’t for them, the island was then discovered by the Portuguese in 1507, but it didn’t meet their requirements either, so they sailed past. It wouldn’t be until 1598, when the Dutch discovered the island, that they settled down. They were the ones who started the first sugar production bringing the plant from South East Asia and labourers from Africa.

Tilambic is a 7-year-old rum at 151 proof with a 75.5ABV, made from molasses, column distilled and aged in oak barrels.

Pirate’s Secret Stash Cocktail Tasting Notes

Aroma – “A Pirates Cove, dried herbs, basil/coriander, with bay leaves, oak and pineapples on the aroma.”

Flavour – “An attack of fizzy tropical characters are quickly combated by the warming strength of the Rum, drawing with it oaky, oak barrels, woody characters with vanilla and caramel, the Sparkling Wine comes back into focus drawing on the herbs and delivers dried herbal characters, palm tree leaves and tropical fruits, such as pineapple, mango and banana, the fight is not over, as in the length the rum keeps you warm with a calm addition of Sparkling Wine, refreshing the end, ready for another glass, if you can handle it.”
