Sparkling Wine in America

15th October 2015

With a growing younger population of wine enthusiasts, over 100 million people in the United States are now drinking wine.

In 2014, 19.2 million bottles of Champagne were exported, up 1.3 million from the previous year. Sparkling wine saw an estimated increase in volume of 3% to 16 million cases in 2014 with imported sparkling wines growing by 6.6% to 7.1 million cases.

The Champagne growth is due to the increase in interest of grower Champagnes. These small family producers, who used to sell grapes to the big brands like Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot have now started producing their own label Champagne and proving very popular. Just about every quality restaurant has at least one, if not several, on its wine list.
