Why have a cocktail? Why put liquids together to craft a new flavour? Why garnish? Why drink? We could ask ourselves a lot of ‘why’ questions, but at the end of the day, tasting the creation answers them all, because we want to live.
Let’s craft the Y Cocktail, utilising Slovenian Sparkling Wine, English Gin and Elderflower/Elderberry Liqueur with a fresh and ripe strawberry.
Sparkling Wine – Radgonske Gorice
The biggest and one of the most well-known Slovenian Sparkling Wineries is Radgonske Gorice, producing Sparkling Wine for everyone, supplying Slovenian Supermarkets and offering something a little more aged and complex for the wine connoisseur.
Radgonske Gorice is also the oldest Sparkling Wine producer in Slovenia, they started 170 years ago in 1852 and now produce 4,500,000 litres of wine every year, with a production that high, it makes sense that Radgonske Gorice is the largest producer of Sparkling Wine in Slovenia.

Gin – Ellers Farm Distillery
Founded on the simple principle of balancing people, planet and profit, Ellers Farm Distillery understands that restoring and protecting our planet and treating people with respect is for the good of everyone.
Produced on their farm and made in batches of only 500, with flavour full of North Yorkshire character.
I could easily share my tasting notes on Flora’s Elderflower Elderberry Liqueur, letting you know of its floral and sweet characters, with elderflowers, elderberries and green apples, but I’ll let the real Flora share her own tasting experience.
“Like my garden — full of herbaceous delight. The heady floral aroma of elderflowers with flavours of lychee, honey, and green apples is like a liquid spring poem. This liqueur perfectly balances the rich honey sweetness of elderflowers with the earthy tartness of elderberries — a perfect balance, just like me.” — Flora.
Y Gin Tasting Notes – “Smooth juniper, with notes of cardamom, earthy, forest floor, with floral characters and liquorice to discover.”
