2nd Vintage of Leckford English Sparkling Wine from Waitrose
9th October 2015
Waitrose is the only supermarket to have its own vineyard, which produced its first grapes in 2011.
Waitrose has now welcomed its second vintage of Leckford Brut 2012, this elegant sparkling wine, which has been crafted at premier English wine estate, Ridgeview, is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. With aromas of toasted brioche and hazelnuts, it has a creamy palate with apple and peach flavours and a citrus twist on the long and complex finish.
Rebecca Hull, Waitrose English wine buyer says: ‘We were thrilled with how popular the maiden vintage of the Leckford sparkling wine was and we’ve ensured there are more bottles available of the 2012 vintage. We’re really proud that our investment in English wine-making has paid off and can’t wait for customers to try it!’
Waitrose stocks over 100 English and Welsh wines, the widest range available in a UK supermarket, many of which are delivered directly to branches from vineyards within a 30 mile radius, as well as being stocked nationwide online at Waitrose Cellar.
