4 Bubbly Cocktails to Go with a Lobster Dinner
4th April 2022
Lobster is one of the sweeter, more high-class options of shellfish. This crustaceous offering conjures images of a romantic beachside dinner at sunset. It’s not always affordable, which makes it a special treat when you can buy it — and a treat this good deserves to be paired with a unique, bubbly drink.
Here are some refreshing fizzy cocktails to go with your favorite lobster dish.
1. Buck’s Fizz
Thought to have originated in the early 1920s, Buck’s Fizz is named after the London Buck’s Club and is very similar to a mimosa, but Buck’s Fizz is 2 parts Champagne whereas a mimosa is half and half.
Making a Buck’s Fizz cocktail is as simple as getting high quality shellfish delivery for your signature lobster dish.
The sweetness and acidity of the orange juice pairs nicely with the buttery lobster and adds freshness to an otherwise heavy dish.
For this recipe, you will need:
• Champagne
• Orange juice
• Orange twist (for garnish)
In a glass of your choice, combine two parts Champagne with one part orange juice. Garnish with a twist of orange peel for decoration.
2. Champagne Margarita
Like the Buck’s Fizz, the citrus in a margarita pairs wonderfully with seafood, especially lobster. As a bonus, margaritas are a classic summer drink, perfect for feeling like you’re at a beachside resort.
Adding Champagne to a margarita is somewhat unusual, but the fizzy wine adds a refreshing layer that is definitely worth a try.
To make this cocktail, you will need:
• 125ml of lime juice
• 250ml of tequila
• 125ml of Champagne of your choice
• Lime wedge
• Margarita salt (to counteract any bitterness of the tequila)
• Lime slice (for garnish)
• Mint sprig (for garnish)
Use the lime wedge to wet the glass around the rim and dip it in salt for a perfect coating. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the lime juice, tequila, and sparkling wine, and shake well. Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish with a lime slice and a sprig of mint.
3. Sgroppino
Originating from the Venice region of Italy that is home to excellent Proseccos, a Sgroppino is both a cocktail and a dessert. If your lobster dinner is formal or for a special occasion, this would be the perfect dessert to serve at the end. The lemon sorbet is a classic for summer and makes a very refreshing treat.
For four people, this recipe requires:
• 125ml of cold vodka
• 250ml cold Prosecco
• 4 scoops of lemon sorbet
• Mint (for garnish)
Scoop the lemon sorbet into individual glasses. Divide the vodka and Prosecco evenly among the glasses, and garnish with a sprig of mint. Serve immediately before the sorbet melts.
4. Martini Royale
A James Bond favorite and a slightly more mature combination of dry vermouth and lime, the Martini Royale is a decadent, gorgeous fizz cocktail that goes perfectly with the idea of a fancy lobster dinner.
To make this drink and please your guests, you will need:
• 75ml of dry vermouth
• 75ml of Prosecco
• Lime wedge
• Slice of lime (for garnish)
• Mint (for garnish)
Fill a wine glass with ice cubes. Pour the vermouth and Prosecco over the ice, and mix gently. Take the lime wedge, squeeze the juice into the glass, and drop the wedge in. Garnish with mint and another slice of lime.
This one is sure to be a party favorite, no matter the season or location.
Enjoy Your Cocktails and Lobster!
If none of those are to your taste, you can mix and match ingredients to find something uniquely you. Any fizz cocktail with fruit juice, especially citrus, will enhance the flavor of your lobster.
Experiment, and find what you like! No matter how you cook your lobster, any dish can be improved with your new favorite drink.
