Dopff au Moulin Crémant d’Alsace
19th July 2016
Dopff au Moulin can be considered one of the pinoeers of Alsatian wine having been first founded by the Dopff family in 1574.
Julien Dopff was also first Alsatian winemaker to adapt the méthode champenoise after attending a demonstration during the Exposition Universelle in Paris. From there he began training in Épernay and selling his own sparkling wine.
This family of vinegrowers now owns over 70 hectares of productive vineyard which is mainly situated around the little town of Riwuewihr, on the south-facing slopes of the Schoenenbourg (‘Belle côte’) – excellent Riesling country.
It’s become one of the most important vineyards for Crémant d’Alsace.
Crémant d’Alsace Cuvée Julien Brut
An homage to the pioneer, Julien Dopff, who helped create Crémant d’Alsace as we know it. Made with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Auxerrois, this is fresh and elegant sparkling wine, made according to the traditional method.
