Crémant de Bourgogne
17th March 2015
Burgundy’s sparkling wines first appeared at the beginning of the 19th century, when the best examples were produced from the vineyard sites now classified as Grand Cru.
The Crémant de Bourgogne appellation covers a particularly large geographical region, extending from north to south and covering the Chablisien, Châtillonnais, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Beaujolais areas.
Crémant de Bourgogne is made predominantly from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes in the methode traditionelle. Pinot Noir gives the wine a richness while the Chardonnay brings the aromas of blossom and brioche.
Crémant de Bourgogne is great as an apéritif with canapés. You can also add Créme de Cassis to it to create the popular Kir Royal. It also pairs well with salty foods and fish and light desserts.
