In response to the rising popularity of English sparkling wine, major supermarket Lidl is due to stock it in their UK stores this spring.

There will be 3 wines from Denbie’s Wine Estate in the North Downs, Surrey. Denbie’s runs the UK’s largest vineyard, producing award-winning English wines.

The sparkling wine will cost £14.99 and will be sold as part of Lidl’s ‘Easter Cellar Range’.

It’s no surprise Lidl is getting involved in English sparkling wine, recently Waitrose reported a 188% sales increase for their English bubbly on top of previous years. In a bid to compete against more premium stores, in 2014 Lidl launched a selection of up-market French wines to attract wealthier shoppers.
