Whisky & Champagne Cocktails
25th January 2019
Two powerful contenders is the world of cocktails, each bringing with them a fine display of characters and both fighting for the spotlight, in this feature, we’ll put together a selection of cocktails that you can easily re-create at home, so you can see how these flavours match or clash.
The Champagne
The Champagne we’re opting to use in our Whisky and Champagne Cocktails is a bottle from Champagne Faniel et Fils called ‘Oriane’, it won a Gold Medal in the Meditation Category at The Glass of Bubbly Awards 2018.
Tasting Notes: “Citrus and yellow apples on the nose. Lemon zest, ripe grapefruit and a dry length in the palate.”
The Whisky
Scottish single malt brand called anCnoc, this is a new brand we’re discovering, anCnoc has been producing since 1894 at Knockdhu Distillery, it’s a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Tasting Notes: “A soft Whisky, with notes of Lemon and Honey, You don’t get as big of a kick when drinking this Whisky, it’s ideal for anyone just getting into Whisky.”

Burns Night
On January 25th, people around the world celebrate the birthday of Scotland’s most revered poet, Robert Burns. Paying homage to his memory with a series of boozy toasts, single malt whisky has forever been the drink of choice to commemorate the anniversary of Scotland’s most famous son.

We paired Champagne Faniel et Fils and anCnoc together with a selection of other ingredients to create three different cocktails for you to try at home.
First Cocktail: Champagne, Whisky and Chambord – The addition of the Chambord should help ease the tension between the Champagne and Whisky, offered a sweeter edge to the expereince.
Second Cocktail: Champagne, Whisky, Maple Syrup and Lemon Juice – Again adding a touch of sweetness, but backing it up with some fine citrus to surprise the palate.
Third Cocktail: Champagne, Whisky and Orange Juice – A classic, Champagne and Orange Juice, so why not add in some Whisky as well.
Tasting Notes
First Cocktail Tasting Notes: “Easy to drink Cocktail with each of the three ingredients expressing themselves, a fairly quick fade in the palate.”
