A Cocktail For Your Cigar
18th May 2023
When you sit down in a warm, dimly lit room and prepare to enjoy one of your fine cigars, wouldn’t it be nice to appreciate a drink specially designed to be drunk alongside?
Of course, you need look no further, with help from No.1 Family Estate’s Oaky and Toasty Sparkling Wine and Wild Thyme Spirits limited Cigar Rum, we’re going to combine these two flavours to create a Cocktail For Your Cigar.
The Sparkling Wine – No.1 Family Estate
No.1 Family Estate was created in 1977 by Adele & Daniel, they chose the name No.1 Family Estate in recognition of the many ‘firsts’ in New Zealand wine they had achieved over the years while working on their first venture, Cellier Le Brun.
They released their very first Cuvée No.1 on Bastille Day in 1999 and in 2012 their No.1 Assemblé was the first wine in New Zealand to be labelled ‘Méthode Marlborough’ in place of Méthode Traditionelle.

The Cigar Rum – Wild Thyme Spirits
In August 2016, husband and wife team, Finlay and Eileen Geekie, packed up all their worldly possessions, leaving behind their home of Oxfordshire, where they’d lived for over 30 years and moved to the island of Colonsay where they now live and work building Wild Thyme Spirits.
Created in the pursuit of the endless search for new experiences, their Cigar Rum is an ode to the famous Cuban Cigar and all things Caribbean. The Cuban culture thrives around their native tobacco and this rum has been created to capture the flavours of fermented tobacco leaves and is a fine blend of Jamaican rums seasoned with distillates of Cuban Cigars, tobacco, cacao nibs and lime
Cigar Rum – Tasting Notes – “You’re trusted into a display of tropical fruits, with fresh and dried pineapple, with mango and more tropical notes in the background, you’ll also get to discover amber leaves and citrus notes.”
