Interview With Tommaso Tamai – Export Sales Manager At Bianchin
25th April 2024
The world of wine requires a lot of talented professionals to help bring sparkling wines to market and if it wasn’t for experts like Tommaso Tamai, helping to export sparkling wines all over the world, we wouldn’t have the global love for a glass of bubbly as we do today. So we feel it’s only right to help highlight some of the unsung heroes of our industry, so in this feature, we speak with Tommaso Tamai, an expert in his role as Export Sales Manager at Bianchin and a good friend of Glass of Bubbly, let’s discover a little about his time in the Wine Industry.
It’s Great To Speak With You, Tommaso, Can You Tell Us A Little About Yourself & Your Journey Into The Wine Industry?
“My experience in the world of wine began in 2008. I worked for wineries in various Italian regions and in the meantime I became an AIS sommelier.
I’ve been working for the boutique Bianchin winery for two years now… a really small producer of a ‘super’ Asolo Prosecco.”
How Do You See The Future Of Prosecco?
“I hope we can continue to grow, but paying ever greater attention to quality and sustainability.”
Can You Tell Us Which Country You Export The Most To And Which Country Would You Most Like To Introduce Bianchin To?
“Currently our main market is the United States, but we are also taking our first steps in Asia. We would love to be able to work in the UK.”
When It Comes To Pairing A Bottle Of Bianchin With Food, Do You Have Any Favourite Combinations That You Would Personally Recommend?
“Something typical of our region…’Baccalà alla vicentina with polenta’ to pair with a glass of our Extra Brut.”
Where’s The Most Memorable Place You’ve Enjoyed A Glass of Bubbly?
“Last summer…after an hours-long trek…at the top of ‘my’ mountain, at 2,000-something metres, in Valtellina, on the border with Switzerland.”
Thank you Tommaso, for sharing your words, knowledge and experience with us and we at Glass of Bubbly wish you the very best for the future!
