Discover Lumiere Winery in Japan
26th September 2025
Established in 1885, Lumiere is a family-owned winery operating for 130 years in Yamanashi. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, Yamanashi is the most spectacular vineyard region in Japan.
They produce several kinds of sparkling wines, mainly using Koshu grapes. Koshu is a pink-skinned grape which is one of the most popular grapes in Japan.
If you plan to visit, you can book a winery tour with an English-speaking guide with the option of tasting wines after the tour of the winery and cellar. They also have a winery shop and a restaurant, with farm-fresh and locally grown ingredients. All the menus are fixed price and change monthly. Enjoy Lumiere’s wines with delicious cuisine. An English Menu is available.

Lumiere’s sparkling wines are made by the traditional method, which is the same technique as Champagne. At the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2024, their Kakitsubata won the Trophy in the Tropical Burst Category, their Sparkling Orange 2022 won a Gold Medal in the Forget Me Not Category and their Sparkling Delaware 2022 won a Silver medal in the Creamy Category.
