Adgestone Vineyard on the Isle of Wight
15th January 2026
Adgestone Vineyard is the oldest continuously operating commercial vineyard in the UK and a producer of award-winning wines. They are one of the top tourist attractions on the Isle of Wight.
They offer the whole Grape to Glass experience. With the latest in digital audio technology, you will be guided around the 10 acre site amongst the many varieties of vines. You’ll learn all aspects of viticulture, the growing season and some interesting history leading up to the successful modern English wines.
You will then head into one of the last remaining subterranean commercial cellars, where you will see the vast array of fermentation vats and bottling equipment, along with the grape press and labelling process.
But that’s not the end of your tour, a fun 20 minute wine tasting session will give you all the knowledge you need to impress your friends at your next social gathering. They’ll teach you tasting techniques, suggest what to look for in English wines and give you a chance to sample their range.
They produce 3 sparkling wines, red, white and blue.
Sparkling Red
A full bodied sparkling red wine with a rich full mouth feel. Summer fruits with a hint of spice and a dry finish. Served cold with BBQ meats or cheese.
Tasting notes: This sparkling wine has a lovely red colour and is beautifully fruity, full of red berries and cherry.
This sparkling wine won the Light & Fruity Trophy at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2025.
Sparkling Wight
Gold Medal award winning crisp sparkling English wine is made from a blend of their finest grapes. It has a clean floral nose. Their chalk grown 1968 Seyval Blanc (the UK’s oldest vines) creates a curious and unique nutty finish.
Tasting notes: This wine has a deep inviting gold colour with aromas of butter, toast and brioche. An attractive, mature and complex wine. Rich and weighty with flavours of toast, almond, melon and tropical fruit with hints of lemon peel, cream, pineapple and honey. Long intriguing finish showing layers of complex dried fruit and nuts.
Something Blue
This is the only blue sparkling wine made in the UK and is the only blue sparkling wine in the World that is made in the traditional method.
Tasting notes: Very unusual, blue in colour! Zesty palate with hints of pear and raspberry.
Yes it really is blue, and yes it is made wholly from English grapes grown at Adgestone Vineyard. If you’re lucky, you may even find natural crystals in the bottle that further reflect the sea’s beauty.
The Cuvee’s natural blue/turquoise colour was inspired by the Isle of Wight’s beautiful crystal clear waters and Mediterranean-like warm climate. It is the perfect accompaniment to a warm summer day, or to brighten up a dull winter evening.
The Cuvee’s vibrant and zesty palate marries perfectly with its bubbles to complement the visual sensation that is Something Blue.
Don’t ask how they make it blue, it’s a closely guarded secret. Suffice to say that anything is possible when an eccentric engineer lets his creative wiles run free in the wine making process.
When did you last turn up to an event with something so uniquely sensational that it became the talk of the party and people were asking you for months afterwards where you got it?
A truly unique collection of sparkling wines.
