A Night in Via Monte Napoleone Milan
11th October 2023
Lights are on and excitement is in the air. Narrow streets leading towards the main street, via Monte Napoleone, offer a twinkling atmosphere that inflames the night. People walk around wearing flattering dresses and precious jewellery.
The most luxurious boutiques welcome their guests with outstanding wines from the finest wineries. This is the night in which wine embodies fashion and glamour for an unforgettable evening!
Get excited for ‘La Vendemmia di via Monte Napoleone’ the most fashionable wine event in Milan. On 5th October, I had the pleasure of attending the event and tasting amazing wines at some of the most iconic fashion boutiques.
Here is a selection of the wines tasted during the evening.
Armani Hotel Milano, Bamboo Bar – Lungarotti Brut Millesimato 2018
Located at via Manzoni 31, there is the Armani building, the headquarters of Giorgio Armani’s world, where sophisticated style and creativity are the trademark of the Armani brand.
Here I enjoyed the first toast of the night, being captivated by a spectacular view of the city whilst drinking a glass of Lungarotti Brut Millesimato 2018, served in style. This sparkling wine is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes and it conveys notes of almonds and nuts, with a pleasant floral nuance at the finish.
Alberta Ferretti – Zenato Lugana Metodo Classico Brut
The exquisite taste and the feminine look of Alberta Ferretti’s creations were experienced with the magnificent wines from Zenato winery for an unparalleled combination. Particularly, the Lugana DOC Metodo Classico Brut, made from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, has stood out for its excellent quality and lingering bubbles that allows enchanting notes of citrus and peach to exhale, while on the palate it offers bread crust aromas and pleasant creaminess.
Missoni – Ferrari Missoni Limited Edition Trentodoc
I need just a single word to describe the world of Missoni and its marvellous creations: colour!
Infinite combinations of colours intertwine to create dresses that embellish women with the vivacity of harmonious shades for a vibrant look.
At Missoni’s boutique, I have tasted the Ferrari Missoni Limited Edition Trentodoc, an amazing expression of the beautiful land of Trentodoc dressed by the iconic patterns of Missoni. Obtained from Chardonnay grapes and aged 40 months on the lees, it exudes notes of yellow fruits and sweet spice. Creamy and extremely elegant on the palate.
Elie Saab – Villa Sandi Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG La Rivetta 120 Extra Brut
Wearing a dress from Elie Saab is a dream for every woman: it’s all about the lightness of the lines and fabrics along with a refined sense of grace. It’s ethereal elegance at its finest. At Elie Saab’s boutique, it was a true pleasure to taste the iconic Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG La Rivetta 120 from Villa Sandi. Both brands have high class and graceful taste in common.
Obtained from Glera grapes, this Valdobbiadene Prosecco gives off notes of red apple and overripe peach on the nose. A creamy citrus mousse with delicate expression from pears and apples. Pleasantly fresh and fruity, always terroir-driven and creamy.
In addition, I tasted an excellent Villa Sandi Traditional Method named ‘Opere’ Millesimato from Pinot Noir 60% and Chardonnay 40% that deeply conquered my nose with captivating apricot skin and peach aromas with hint of toastiness on the palate.
A special thanks also to the following wineries for having invited me to taste their wines.
Leone de Castris, a winery of long tradition from the sunny Puglia region that showcased their distinctive wines such as Five Roses 79° Anniversario Salento IGT 2022, Donna Lisa Rosso Salice Salentino Riserva DOC 2019 and Primitivo Per Lui Salento IGT 2019 at Gianvito Rossi’s boutique.
Also Venica & Venica, a prestigious winery of four generations from the Collio area in Friuli Venezia Giulia for their Merlot, Malvasia and Pinot bianco Collio tasted at Almini’s boutique.
And last but not least, my thanks to Fonzone, a winery located in the heart of Irpinia in the Campania Region that introduced its Le Mattine Irpinia Falanghina DOC at Boyy boutique.
Wine has the incredible ability to connect people, it’s the protagonist of any occasion, bringing euphoria and self-confidence to those who love to raise a glass.
If wine was a character in a movie, it would be, without any doubt, the leading actor: I can imagine it perfectly dressed by the most prestigious fashion brands with an elegant tuxedo and polished shoes with a bright smile shining through its charisma, like what happened in Milan, where astonishing wines led a stellar night.
