Anna de Codorníu
24th February 2014
Anna de Codorníu is Spain’s best-selling sparkling wine brand. It is named after the 17th century head of the Codorníu wine estate, Anna, who was the last person to in the family to bear the Codorniu surname.
Codorníu has been regarded as a world leader in prestige sparkling wine since 1872 when Josep Raventós, great grandfather to the present generation of family owners, introduced the Traditional Method in Spain, creating a wine that is known today as cava. They also lobbied DO Cava to allow the use of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
It was the first Cava to use Chardonnay in its cuvee. On account of its history and its exquisite taste, Anna de Codorníu has become Codorníu’s most emblematic product both at home in Spain and around the world
