Award-winning Furleigh Estate provides wine for the ‘Worst Wedding Ever’

14th April 2014

Dorset-based vineyard and winery Furleigh Estate has sold its award-winning sparkling rosé wine to playwright, TV writer and producer, Chris Chibnall.

Chibnall, the creator of popular ITV series Broadchurch, which is set in West Dorset close to Furleigh Estate, bought 30 limited edition bottles of wine on the opening night of his major new stage play; Worst Wedding Ever at the Salisbury Playhouse last week.

Furleigh Estate owner, Rebecca Hansford said: “It’s a lovely compliment that one of the top writers in Britain has enjoyed our wine. We believe he was going to hand the bottles out as thank you presents on the first night, so we hope the recipients liked it too.”

Situated within 85 acres of rolling countryside in Salway Ash, West Dorset, this former dairy farm grows a variety of vines on the south-facing slopes of the estate, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, used to produce their classic quality sparkling wine and Bacchus and Rondo grapes, which produce fine, still wines.

Furleigh Estate supplies wine to a number of top restaurants, hotels and retailers including Gordon Ramsay’s new Battersea restaurant, London House and Selfridges. The estate is also open to the public for tours and tastings. For more information or to book, email info@furleighestate.co.uk or phone 01308 488991
