Blueberry Steel Cocktail

After a long hard day working, whether it be in the mines, on the road or behind a desk, we all need to rewind and rejuvenate our energy, lots of us like to have a good drink after a long day, so why not combine that drink with a tasty and healthy character?

If you like blueberries, then this cocktail will be absolutely perfect for you, if you don’t like blueberries, then I’m not quite sure why you’ve clicked on this article, but whatever the case, this Blueberry Steel Cocktail will taste extremely delicate, wonderfully healthy, and expertly bubbly with that much-needed alcohol touch.

The Sparkling Wine – Borgo Conventi

Borgo Conventi has been taking care of its vineyards since 1975. The land in which Borgo Conventi is located was once owned by a noble landowner, where the first monastery in Farra d’Isonzo was built, today the land is covered by vines and the Borgo Conventi estate.

In 2001 the estate was acquired by the Folonari family, this brought in a higher production level without trading in any traditions, currently, the winery produces over 300,000 bottles of wine each year.

I had the pleasure of visiting Borgo Conventi a few years back, the estate is a mixture of money and comfort, keeping its nostalgic history while incorporating new and modern sets. We travelled up into their vineyards where we enjoyed a bottle of their Sparkling Wine. Currently, my opinion stands that the best way to enjoy a bottle of Sparkling Wine is in the vineyard that grew the grapes and with the people who produced it. The wine itself won’t physically taste any better, but you’ll be so high on the moment that your mind will make it taste like the angels have blessed you with this Glass of Bubbly.

Borgo Conventi – Ribolla Gialla – Tasting Notes 

Aroma – “Lovely floral aromas and blossom, with prominent yellow floral, and nice delicate citrus and hints of oily green fruits on the aroma.”

Flavour – “Very slick yellow citrus with yellow floral notes, yellow rose petals, and green apple citrus flavours.”

The Gin – Steeltown

Created by the Spirit of Wales, being distilled in Newport, they capture the essence of Wales and its Celtic roots, along with their Welsh industrial heritage of steel production, coal mining, agriculture, and fishing traditions.

They opened in 2021 with the goal to craft complex and surprising flavours, that tell abstract stories on your palate, giving you a of taste Wales to treasure.

Steeltown Welsh Blueberry Gin – Tasting Notes – “Glorious blueberries, a mixture of freshly picked and candied blueberries, with zesty grapefruit, lemon and lime along with some earthy notes.”

Ingredients

• Sparkling Wine
• Blueberry Gin
• Blueberries

How To Make The Blueberry Steel Cocktail

• 15mls of Gin
• Blend two handfuls of Blueberries with a splash of your Sparkling Wine
• Pour in 50mls of your Blended Blueberries
• Finish with 50mls of Sparkling Wine
• If you want, drop in a couple of Blueberries as a surprise while drinking

Blueberry Steel Cocktail Tasting Notes 

Aroma – “A mixture of fresh blueberries and candied blueberries, with distant green fruits and even some blue raspberry Slush Puppie and blue candy floss on the aroma.”

Flavour – “Welcome to the adult world, blueberries infused with alcohol, bubbling to life with fizz, blueberries mostly in their natural form, with some candied versions included, zesty green apple skin, grapefruit, lemon and lime notes come through to say hi to your palate.”
