Bortolomiol Bandarossa Special Edition
21st March 2024
An extremely unique sparkling wine, capable of bringing out the most elegant and refined aspects of the Glera grape, in full respect of the tradition of Prosecco Superiore di Valdobbiadene.
The Bortolomiol winery has ancient origins, it was in 1760 when Bartolomeo Bortolomiol cultivated his vineyards in Valdobbiadene (TV). The sparkling wine company was born in 1949, founded by Giuliano Bortolomiol, a graduate of the Conegliano wine school, and the first to make Prosecco in the brut version. An important choice, from which emerges the desire to enhance the link between the Valdobbiadene terroir and the vintage.
Nowadays the winery is led by the Bortolomiol women, their wife Ottavia and their daughters, with the contribution of a team of oenologists coordinated by Roberto Cipresso, an internationally renowned winemaker.
Management is based on family tradition, focusing on sustainable projects that safeguard man and the earth through innovative investments aimed at environmental sustainability, the recovery of architectural and artistic assets, up to social commitment.
Today Bortolomiol is known throughout the world for its Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, of which it produces various selections.
In 2011, the Green Mark Management Protocol was born, an internal specification created by the company, which goes alongside the viticultural protocol of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Consortium. A series of technical indications aimed at improving the quality of the grapes and management of the vineyards, including those of the suppliers, with minimal impact on the environment.
In 2008, Bortolomiol converted the owned vineyards to organic cultivation with the aim of creating a real Organic District in the heart of the Denomination. Giuliana Bortolomiol is following this project in particular, with a continuous presence in the vineyard in order to monitor the progress of the natural cycles of the vine and protect it promptly from adversities.
Elvira Bortolomiol states: “We have adopted behaviors and strategies aimed at preserving the territory we live in through eco-sustainable conduct: the well-being of the vine and the vineyard is an important and necessary approach for us, handed down to us by our father, who founded the winery in the 1940s, even if the family tradition dates back to 1760.”
In 2018 Bortolomiol began a collaboration with Indaco2, a spin-off company of the University of Siena, for the Life Cycle Analysis ( LCA – Life Cycle Assessment ) of the company’s wines: complete monitoring of the production process, from the management of the vineyard until the disposal of packaging materials, regulated by ISO14040-44 standards and recognized internationally.
Great attention is paid to the Carbon Footprint, i.e. the quantity of greenhouse gases emitted directly and indirectly into the atmosphere during the production chain processes.
“We are satisfied with this important result,” says Elvira Bortolomiol, vice president of the Valdobbiadene sparkling wine house. “For years our company has been committed to promoting increasingly sustainable production. With the certification, an important piece is added to our project but the commitment does not stop here because we have already started the work to certify the entire company and its production.”
Bortolomiol Bandarossa Special Edition Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry Millesimato 2022
Bortolomiol Bandarossa
Bandarossa is a Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry, a wine that means a lot to the company, it is the symbol of the human touch, that of Giuliano Bortolomiol.
The founder of the company, in fact, branded his best bottles with a red band and sent them to his loved ones. Bortolomiol is a historic winery in Valdobbiadene (TV) founded by Giuliano and today led by his daughters.
Bandarossa Special Edition was born from an accurate and careful selection of the best grapes, chosen from the twenty vineyards destined for this limited edition.
It remains in contact with the yeasts for a period exceeding three months, after which the wine rests in the bottle in the company cellar for another four months before being ready for tasting.
An extremely unique sparkling wine, capable of bringing out the most elegant and refined aspects of the Glera grape, in full respect of the tradition of Prosecco Superiore di Valdobbiadene.
Sparkling straw yellow with greenish hues, it has soft white foam, regular and numerous chains, with a fine and persistent perlage.
Crunchy notes of apple, hints of mango and papaya, melon and breadfruit, and trails of pink grapefruit make up the pleasant olfactory spectrum.
The sip is full, again with references to tropical fruit and citrus references perceived on the nose. The gentle perlage makes the sip satisfying, with a decided sugary perception compared to the declared dosage. Of medium length, it closes with elegant freshness and flavor.
