Carr Taylor Demi-Sec
2nd April 2025

David and Linda Carr Taylor planted their vineyard in 1971 on 21 acres of land that David had purchased in 1969, which surrounded his family home in the East Sussex countryside.
They planted varieties such as reichensteiner, gutenborner, muller thurgau, dornfelder, and the classic Champagne varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay.
During the generous summer of 1976, their first commercially viable harvest for the vineyard was here and with it, some 2,000 bottles of Carr Taylor wines were produced!
It was in the year of 1983 that an exceptional harvest encouraged them to experiment with sparkling wine. ‘This venture produced 10,000 bottles of traditionally fermented sparkling wine and resulted in the first commercially available traditional method sparkling wine made in England.” – Carr Taylor
“Rich and sweet white and green pears, with white floral, pear blossom, and glazed green apples on the aroma. The palate offers the sweet delight of a demi-sec wine, with sweet mushy pears, red apple flesh, white floral and blossom, along with glazed orchard fruits on the palate.” – Glass of Bubbly
