Champagne de Castelnau Brut Réserve
3rd November 2014
Our Winemaker’s comments:
This wine’s colour is straw with green/gold undertones. The initial aromas should intrigue the taster as they already show a complexity rarely present in a non-vintage Brut. The biscuity gives away some lovely spicy, herbaceous tones of thyme, blonde tobacco and dried flowers. The palate is intense showing the same biscuity, faintly honeyed notes. Gingerbread, almonds and hazeltnuts blend with peach and ripe apricot. This cuvée is best described as having the soul of a vintage wine in the body of a non-vintage.
Food and wine matching: This Champagne makes a very pure aperitif and a delightful accompaniment to savouries such as tempura Scampi, a Dover sole or Veal Sweetbreads meunière.
Blend:
40 % Chardonnay
20 % Pinot Noir
40 % Pinot Meunier
