Founded over 160 years ago in 1859, Champagne Duval-Leroy is a label with a strong history in the world of fine wines led by whom many regard as one of the pioneering female business women of the industry, Carol Duval-Leroy. A brand who state they are inspired by passion, not fashion and that its house and its strength, Duval-Leroy winery can be found in the Côte des Blancs region of Champagne within the village of Vertus and they produce a selection of fine labels enabling any fan of bubbly to experience the many flavours of this world famous wine.
The family run business offers a wide selection of styles to chose from with Bruts to rosé, demi-sec to organic with a selection of prestige vintages. We recently received a refresher on the flavours of Duval-Leroy with a selection of five samples to taste and review:
Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut (organically grown grapes): “Aromas are orange floral, touch oak/cream and apricot pastry. Flavours offer you a crisp and touch dry experience of yellow fruits, minerals, walnut.”
Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut Reserve: “Fresh green fruits, pastry and chalk / lemon on the nose. Flavours are rich and moreish, the crisp and refreshing initial impact leads on to dried apricot, oak, pastry and minerals.”
Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut Reserve Chardonnay: “A good overall balance of flavours, easy to drink and enjoy. White blossom, zesty, touch brioche / croissant in the palate.”
Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut Premier Cru: “White blossom, chalky with soft citrus / grapefruit in aromas. Flavours are alive and fresh, zesty & zingy with toasty, apricot, peach, minerals and citrus.”
Champagne Duval-Leroy Rosé: “Toast, walnut, raspberry, red rose petals on the nose. Red berry fruit flavours with subtle minerals and oak.”
