Champagne JL Vergnon
14th January 2016
The JL Vergnon Champagne house was founded by Jean-Louis Vergnon, who planted vineyards on the slopes of Côte de Blancs in Mesnil/ Oger.
He began creating his own wines from just Chardonnay. The accidental death of his elder son Bruno in 1977 affected him deeply and delayed the making of his dream until the return of his second son Alain, in 1979.
Today, JL Vergnon Champagnes are all made exclusively with their own Grand Cru vineyards and vinified in their house in Mesnil /Oger, with the care of keeping the tradition alive and to perpetuate his know-how.
Now, his wife Monique Vergnon-Charlemagne and her children, Didier and Brigette, continue Jean-Louis’ passion, with help from winemaker Christophe Constant.
Vineyards
JL Vergnon only produces wine from classified Grand Cru Chardonnay. The village of Mesnil/Oger is renowned for the excellence of its soil and for exclusively growing the Chardonnay grape that gives finesse and elegance to the wines.
