Champagne Laurianne Lejour – Interview With The Founder And Owner
8th July 2024
The love of Champagne is infinite, a language that everyone can understand, a sparkle that can shine in anyone’s glass, it can connect people, brings them together and places a smile on faces around the world.
In this exclusive feature on Glass of Bubbly, we speak with Laurianne Lejour, the owner and founder of Champagne Champagne Laurianne Lejour, let’s discover a little about his life, his journey into the industry and one of his favourite Champagne memories.
It’s Great To Speak With You, Laurianne, Can You Tell Us A Little About Yourself & How Your Journey Into The Champagne Industry Began?
“I started in 2011, on my mother’s wine estate. Before that, I used to work there from time to time in the cellar, cellar and vines. But I first had a professional life before making Champagne full-time.”
Do You Remember Your First Experience With Champagne? When It Was And What Kind Of Label It Was?
“The first time I dipped my lips into a glass of my grandparents’ Champagne: Norbert Potié Champagne. I was a child…”
How Rewarding And Challenging Is Running Your Own Champagne House?
“I have a lot of admiration for all kinds of crafts and artisans. I love working with my hands, making, shaping and creating. I find it very noble and impressive to develop an expertise without ever coming to a conclusion, there are always subjects to be explored in greater depth.
The other facet of my job that I find magical is just how exhausting and complicated it can be. Nature makes us live in uncertainty, but when a bottle of Champagne arrives on the table, it’s a time for celebration and festivities!”
When It Comes To Pairing Champagne With Food, Do You Have Any Favourite Combinations That You Would Personally Recommend?
“Yes, I recommend well-aged hams, a fine cheese platter or a fish plancha with olive oil.”
What Future Plans Can Enthusiasts Of Champagne Laurianne Lejour Look Forward To In The Coming Years?
“I’ll talk about the new cuvées when they come out. Work to make my cellar more welcoming!”
Can You Share With Us One Of The Most Memorable Experiences You’ve Enjoyed With A Glass of Bubbly?
“My favourite experience: a picnic in the middle of the Ambonnay vineyards, good food and my 100% Ambonnay blanc de noirs. What better way to discover a wine than to taste it in the heart of its terroir!”
Thank you Laurianne, for sharing your story and experiences with us and we at Glass of Bubbly wish you the very best for the future!
