Champagne outsold semi-skimmed milk at Lidl this Christmas!

This Christmas, the best-selling item at Lidl, even knocking semi-skimmed milk off the top spot was the Comte De Senneval Champagne, priced at £11.99.

This high volume of Champagne sales has helped to make it the most successful Christmas on record for Lidl, with year-on-year sales rising by more than 20 per cent.

The supermarket chain has said that it experienced “huge demand” for luxury items in the run up to Christmas, as they concentrated on attracting more middleclass consumers with high-quality food and wine at low prices.
