Champagne & Sparkling Wine at London Wine Fair

Sparkling wine will be well represented at this year’s London Wine Fair.  Leading Champagne Houses Taittinger and Pol Roger will launch their 2009 Brut and 2008 Rosé, respectively.  Taittinger Champagne will also show the new Taittinger Nocturne City Lights packaging, which is available in bottles, magnums and jeroboams. Family-owned, independent Maison, Champagne Bruno Paillard will show its Multi Vintage Première Cuvée Rosé on the Walker and Wodehouse stand. Prosecco producers will be out in force, as will Cava, English sparkling wine and sparkling New World producers.

Domaine Sainte Rose from the Languedoc will unveil its 2013 Method Traditional Blanc de Noir. This is the first year that the family owned winery has produced the Method Traditional Blanc de Noir, which is made entirely from specially selected Pinot Noir grapes.  The wine is produced in very small quantities from grapes that have been carefully hand-picked.  2016 will be the first time a producer from Luxembourg has exhibited at the show.

Domaines Vinsmoselle, the largest producer of wine and crémant in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, will show POLL-FABAIRE Crémant de Luxembourg, which was first produced 25 years ago. This Crémant is based on the méthode traditionnelle method. They will also be showing the latest creation, Poll On Ice, the first Luxembourg Crémant to drink on ice. This new occasion to drink sparkling wine in a large glass heightens its freshness and aromatic intensity.

UK agent, Bancroft Wines, will have a ‘fizz corner’ to show some of its best traditional method offerings, including the newly-launched Westwell Fine Wine ‘Pelegrim’ Extra Dry non vintage from Kent and the recently-appointed Champagne House Gratiot-Pilliere from le Marne.

English Wine Producers will be teaming up with the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium (which this year is scheduled to take place in Brighton at the end of May) for Afternoon Cream Tea and English fizz at 3.30pm every day of the Fair. There will be a short industry briefing on the ICCWS at 10.30am on Tuesday giving attendees a taste of what the event will involve and its importance to the English wine industry as hosts.

On Wednesday, 4th May from 5.30pm to 6.15pm, there will be an open pour “Champagne vs. Sparkling wine” session in The International Wine & Spirit Competition stand.  This will be a battle of the sparklings featuring a selection of IWSC winners.
