Diamonds Are Forever – Champagne Vincent d’Astrée
17th January 2022
Unlike a diamond, when opening a bottle of Champagne, it won’t last forever, but the memory will. Let’s find out about one of the many amazing Champagne labels, this one draws the everlasting diamond of its label, Champagne Vincent d’Astrée.
Champagne Vincent d’Astrée owes its creation in a big part to the 240 winegrowers who every day, take care and manage their plots of land, all doing their best to maintain the quality of this Champagne label. It was in 1956 that just a handful of winegrowers eager to add value to their grapes created the Pierry cooperative. For more than 60 years they have worked together, expanding and improving in creating Vincent d’Astrée’s Champagnes. They then decided to place their project under the patronage of St Vincent and the benevolence of the stars. Thus was born the Maison Vincent d’Astrée.
Their grape varieties consist of Champenois Meunier (55%), Pinot Noir (20%) and Chardonnay (25%), they are all cultivated with care and attention on terroir classified Premier Cru
Jean Oudart was a Benedictine monk, distinguished emulator of Dom Pérignon, he lived from 1654 to 1742, thanks to his talents as an oenologist, he was one of the main craftsmen in the development of Champagne and his story tells that the Parisian nobility demanded “Wine from Pierry, according to the method of Brother Oudart.”.At the time, Brother Oudart sealed his bottles with two stars …
Another big credit should go out to Sébastien Lapierre, who in 2002 joined the Maison Vincent d’Astrée team as the Cellar Master, their precious bottles rest from 36 months, up to more than 10 years before they are disgorged and made available to the customer. It is a massive commitment to create a product and place it on hold for 10 years before making a single dime from it, of course, they’ll make money from their non-vintage Champagnes and other vintages, but to leave a Champagne for that long, shows a real commitment from any Champagne producer that they believe in their Champagne and want it to be the absolute best it can be.
Now that we’ve talked about Champagne Vincent d’Astrée, it’s time to pop open 4 of their award winning Champagnes and see how their dedication, teamwork and passion have paid off.

Pierry owes its name to each small piece of flint from the past, formed in the secondary (Cretaceous -145 million years old). These stone fragments give each cuvée such a great peculiarity that we find in Vincent d’Astrée Champagnes.
