A distillery that has embedded itself in the secret history of WWII, using 75% less energy compared to traditional methods and saving over half a million gallons of water each year, they also transform fermented molasses into a revolutionary fertiliser that improves the soil’s condition year on year.

“In 1938, the MOD launched Operation GPSS (Government pipeline & storage system) to find a way to store and transport fuel around the UK out of enemy sight. A handful of secret, underground fuel depots were commissioned and in the middle of the Shropshire woodland, our site was built complete with 22 underground tanks, air raid shelters and its own alcohol production plant for use in fuel. Over 80 years on, we have repurposed this into our distillery and maturation site.” – Distinct Distillers

Distinct Distillers has embraced its WWII history, honouring 12 D-Day landing veterans in partnership with the Taxi Charity, and they laid down 12 casks of rum in their honour. They also offer the opportunity for anyone to invest in a cask of rum.
