Divine Beauty – A Champagne Cocktail

Two stunning ladies have just walked into a bar, drawing the eyes of every man and woman like a magnet, one is bubbly with life, the other mysterious, they both sit at the bar and ask the Bartender to create them something new, something not on the menu, something just for them.

The bartender, mesmerised by their dream-like beauty, nods his head and gets to work on crafting a Glass of Bubbly Cocktail, he pops open a bottle of Champagne, “only the finest” he says, and incorporates a Vodka from the higher shelves with a unique character, a couple of extra ingredients later and he’s finished, he slowly slides the drinks toward the ladies.

They both reach a hand forward, grasping the stem of the tulip glasses, gifting the bartender a gentle smile, putting the rim of the glass to their lips, and taking a sip, they look at each and one says to the bartender “this is simply divine, you must share this with everyone”, turning to face the onlooking crowd the other beauty says “the first round is on us.”

The Vodka – Wild Thyme Spirits

In August 2016, husband and wife team, Finlay and Eileen Geekie, packed up all their worldly possessions, leaving behind their home of Oxfordshire, where they’d lived for over 30 years and moved to the island of Colonsay where they now live and work building Wild Thyme Spirits.

In Celtic folklore, every house had a Brownie or Spirit, or in Gaelic, an Uruisg {oor-isk} to help with household chores. But from the island of Colonsay, tales of something different began to emerge, tales of alchemy, tales of ALVA, a delightful, red-haired maiden, a very special Brownie with supernatural powers, a Gruagach {groo-ah-gak}. Long, long ago she survived when her Viking long boat crashed on the wild island’s unforgiving rocks. She stumbled ashore and took shelter at Tigh Na Uruisg {tee-na-oor-isk}, or Home of the Spirit, where she remains to this day. With an alchemist’s delicate touch, she transforms humble botanicals into magical spirits.

Colonsay Vodka takes inspiration from neighbouring Islay, famous for its whisky, ALVA has crafted a unique vodka using peated barley that invokes the smoke of a peat fire and the tang of the weather-beaten Colonsay coastline. It effortlessly combines the purity of vodka with the deep complexity of a single malt.
