England’s Newest Sparkling Wine Producer takes the Wine World by Storm
7th January 2016
A small vineyard in Kent is fast becoming the talk of the wine Industry.
In the last 6 months Woodchurch has released its first sparkling wine and scooped no less than three international awards.
Donna and Graham Barbour established their vineyard at Woodchurch in the heart of Kent in 2010. After five years of hard work they released two exceptional wines this year from their first harvest in 2012. They would both turn out to be award winners.
Only 2000 bottles were produced in their first year and each one is individually numbered. They have been selling out incredibly fast and the couple are now already taking orders for their next release – the 2013 vintage.
Their vineyard is situated in the picturesque village of Woodchurch, in Kent – the garden of England. The area has caught international attention as the French are moving in. After many reports of Champagne houses showing an interest, Taittinger made the first move. The French producer has bought land near to Woodchurch vineyard, becoming the first Champagne producer to invest in the UK wine industry.
Woodchurch follows in the footsteps of nearby vineyards such as Gusbourne and Chapel Down – also producing award-winning wines in Kent.
This is great news for England’s newest wine producer, as Woodchurch receives rave reviews and begins to sell out across the country.
