The Champagne Bureau UK’s guide to pairing Champagne with Cottage Cheese – five ways
Cottage Cheese with Rocket, Fig Jam and Honey
This dish works great as a starter at a dinner party thanks to its quick preparation time, and once paired with Champagne, it is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Simply place your cottage cheese on a bed of rocket, and top it with fig jam, a drizzle of honey, and some crushed pistachios.
The array of ingredients used here pair wonderfully with Non-Vintage Champagne Brut, a fresh and well-structured wine with intense aromas and flavours. The Champagne will cut through the creaminess of the cheese and bitterness of the rocket, whilst complementing the sweetness of the fig jam and honey.

Cottage Cheese Flatbread Topped with Smoked Salmon and Avocado
Did you know that it is possible to make flatbread from just cottage cheese and eggs? Using a food processor, blend 250g of cottage cheese with two eggs and your seasonings of choice. Once mixed, spread the mixture onto a tray and bake in an oven at fan 200°C for 20 minutes.
After the flatbread has cooled, top with smoked salmon and avocado and enjoy alongside a glass of Champagne Blanc de Blancs, a delicate wine that will highlight the aromas of the salmon. Alternatively, Champagne Rosé, which has a fruitier flavour profile, pairs perfectly with the mild flavour of the flatbread and the smokiness of the salmon.

Cottage Cheese Wrap Filled with Cured Meats
It is possible to make a wrap out of cottage cheese by using the same recipe as that of the flatbread. Simply spread the mixture more thinly before baking, and once cooled, fill with a selection of cured meats and wrap like a tortilla.
Charcuterie and Champagne is a classic pairing, with the vinosity of Champagne Blanc de Noirs (a Champagne that only consists of dark grapes) making this style perfect as a match for cold meats, thanks to the full-bodied nature of the wine. Alternatively, the light and refreshing notes associated with Champagne Rosé complement the salty and savoury flavours of the cured meats.

Toast Topped with Cottage Cheese, Fried Eggs and Mushrooms
For a quick and easy brunch, toast topped with cottage cheese, fried eggs, and mushrooms, is an excellent choice. As brunch is a meal increasingly associated with Champagne, why not elevate this dish with a glass?
Some Champagne Blanc de Blancs (a Champagne that only consists of white grapes) are an ideal pairing when it comes to eggs, as the bright acidity of the wine along with its notes of green apple and lemon provide a refreshing contrast to the rich flavour of the eggs. Alternatively, Champagne Blanc de Noirs pairs wonderfully with oyster and shiitake mushrooms, thanks to the umami flavour present in both the vegetable and wine.
Cottage Cheese Pancakes with Honey and Lemon
For a sweeter option, cottage cheese pancakes pair exceptionally with a glass of Champagne. Combine six eggs, 450g of cottage cheese, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of butter, a teaspoon of lemon zest and a dash of vanilla with 190g of flour and a teaspoon each of baking powder and baking soda. This batter should make approximately 16 pancakes, which are best served warm with maple syrup, berries, and ice cream.
Sweet dishes can pair well with Champagne Demi-Sec, a smooth and delicate Champagne with a sugar content between 32 and 50 grams of sugar per litre. These wines are round and indulgent providing fruity notes that are sweeter on the palate and work particularly well with desserts.
