Discount supermarket Aldi have proclaimed Glasgow to be the ‘capital’ of Prosecco, having published a map revealing the most popular wines in different parts of the UK.

The map, based on the first 16,000 transactions on its online wine store, launched in January, also showed Champagne to be the drink of choice in South West London and Rosé Champagne to be particularly popular in Nottingham.

Prosecco was the second most popular wine in the UK overall, with Champagne coming tenth.
