Glass of Bubbly Awards Sparkling Wine Influencer 2024 – Queena Wong

The sparkling wine industry is vast and varied and contains a whole host of people globally helping it to get from the vine to the final destination, the glass of bubbly in the hand of the consumer. In between these two essentials are thousands if not millions of fine ladies and gentlemen working with great passion and professionalism across the globe.

During lead up to the judging of the 2024 Glass of Bubbly Awards, we decided to once again focus on the people in the sparkling wine industry and just not only, as we usually do, the fine wineries and wine. We announced the re-introduction of the Significant Contribution to the World of Sparkling Wine Trophy:

“We had a very positive response to our Significant Contribution trophy that it really called upon us to separate applications applicable to their own merits so we quickly decided to add an additional award of ‘Sparkling Wine Influencer’.

I was given the responsibility of judging the applications for the people awards so it was my decision to add ‘Influencer’ as some of the forms I read through were really geared towards a vital here and now presence.” Christopher Walkey

“This award is given to the person who showcases a consistent commitment to sharing all the values of sparkling wine over the last calendar year to include education, engagement and entertainment.

We welcome applications from nominees, or those nominating, to highlight an individual who has made a positive impact and commitment to the world of sparkling wine over the last calendar year in educating, engaging and entertaining audiences on the subject of sparkling wine.

This can include, though not limited to, commitments to include education, innovation, technology, sustainability, production, marketing, sales via communication channels such as websites, social media, magazines, radio, television, in person and more.”

Queen Wong:

This was a very difficult award to give as the applications received were both strong and from those I know very well and have shared many years of wine journeys with. Without question, the strongest application was from Queena Wong and it was a delight to research all her referenced links and social media accounts.

What I discovered was a very conservative driven approach to sharing the passion for not only bubbly wines, but wines in general – A focus on highlighting and supporting women in the industry all resonated well with me having previously launched a women focused brand myself several years ago to tackle entry for and support for up and coming ladies in the UK property industry. Queena, from my online research of her application, certainly seemed to be the wine professional go to for women in the industry.

 

I had met Queena, though very briefly, previously and I am sorry I did not get the opportunity to speak for longer. I certainly now admire even more her very inclusive approach to wine. Queena’s online presence, during my research, came across as totally approachable and no matter at what level you might be from amateur to MW studying level.

What I also admired and appreciated is that not every social media update was about her, or about Queena, it was also about the wines and importantly other people’s success – appreciating the good work of others as well as her own. This showed to me a sincere passion for the industry she works in.

Yes, bubbles were certainly a focus during my research to a point where I was most envious of some of the events Queena has been to!

Queena is a fine lady of the industry to offer you her support and ongoing experience, expertise and connections to work with. As Queena says on her own website: ‘She’s a wine lover and change-maker – helping to build a new world of wine – a champion of fellow women in the UK wine industry – connecting like-minded people – building a community to celebrate and encourage.‘
