25th April 2016
The first ever Glass of Bubbly Champagne & Sparkling Wine tasting event took place at the Womens University Club in Mayfair, London on 19th April. What was the biggest tasting event for sparkling wine in the UK so far in 2016 was met with great feedback and appreciation from many who attended – 9 countries, 13 styles, 171 bottles, 77 producers were there on the day with over 200 attendees from Sommeliers to TV personalities, restaurant owners to wine writers.
77 Producers were on show showcasing 171 labels of Bubbly.
The moment the doors opened at 12pm the room was a hub of activity of networking, tasting, making notes and what we always like to see, many happy faces. Not only were there well known labels from including Lanson, Taittinger, Villa Sandi and Gancia there was also many new labels that had yet to be tasted in the UK and provided many attendees with a new tasting experience, it was the first time Belgium Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen sparkling was shown in UK from Dudley Craig Wines.
What Glass of Bubbly loves to share with our community is the diverse selection of sparkling wine that are available across the world, this was evident by the varied selection present at our Spring tasting: 31 Champagne producers, 9 English, 10 Prosecco, 1 Franciacorta, 14 Italian, 5 Crémant, 4 French sparkling, 1 Luxembourg, 1 Belgium, 1 New Zealand, 1 USA, 2 Argentina, 2 South Africa.
