“Welcome To The Family, Son!”

The very first Resident Evil Game was created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara in 1996 and was released on the PlayStation in 1996.

“You Were Almost A Jill Sandwich!”

Capcom didn’t just launch the best-selling horror video game series in the world, it is also credited for defining the survival horror genre and returning zombies to popular culture. As of July 2023, the combined copies sold of all the Resident Evil Games stands at 146 million copies.

“Trust Is Built Through Actions, Not Words”

Branching off into the world of movies, the first live-action Resident Evil film was released in 2002, followed by 5 sequels and a 2021 reboot that was less than well-received by true fans, but combined the Resident Evil films have grossed more than $1.2 billion.

The story of the first Resident Evil game began when Tokuro Fujiwara told Shinji Mikami and other co-workers at Capcom to create a game using elements from his 1989 game Sweet Home on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

The reason it wasn’t released under the name of Biohazard in the United States, unlike it did in Japan, was that in late 1994, when marketing executives were getting ready to release in America, it became clear that securing the rights to the name Biohazard would be very difficult as a DOS game had been registered under that name, so the company had a competition, asking everyone to come up with a new name, and the winner was… Resident Evil.

“Do Me A Favor And Stay Dead.”

Interesting Fact: Performed from early July to late August in Japan in 2000, Bioroid: Year Zero was a musical horror comedy, telling a story from an infected point of view. Another show was put on in 2015 called Biohazard The Stage, focusing on the main characters of Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, as Philosophy University in Australia is experiencing a bioterrorist attack.
