Heritage Railway Teams Up with Kent Vineyard for a Special Day Out

2nd July 2026

English vines in sunlight

Visitors can now combine the romance of vintage rail travel with the taste of English wine, thanks to a new partnership between Spa Valley Railway and Biddenden Vineyards, one of the region’s best-loved vineyards. The collaboration offers guests an added incentive to make a full day of exploring the High Weald, travelling by heritage train before enjoying a relaxed vineyard experience.

Under the partnership, visitors can make their day out go further with two exclusive perks. Anyone booking a Biddenden Vineyards self-guided wine tour can choose to claim 10% off standard Spa Valley Railway train tickets by presenting their vineyard booking at any the railway’s stations when purchasing a ticket to travel, while railway passengers who show their Spa Valley Railway tickets at Biddenden Vineyards will receive a complimentary £5 upgrade on a self-guided tour, which increases their tasting flight from three wines to six.

Biddenden Vineyards’ self-guided tours are £15. Visitors can wander through the vines at their own pace, following a guided route and enjoying a tasting flight. They can choose from two scenic routes, lasting approximately 40 minutes or 20 minutes. The standard experience includes a tasting flight of three wines, with a complimentary upgrade to six wines through the Spa Valley Railway partnership offer, saving £5. Visitors can also redeem £5 against Biddenden purchases of more than £20 in store.

Ideal for everyone including groups, the experience offers a simple way to turn two much-loved Kent attractions into one memorable day out: board beautifully restored heritage carriages, enjoy a scenic journey through the Kent and East Sussex countryside, then continue the adventure with a relaxed vineyard visit and tasting experience.

Although visitors can enjoy both attractions on the same day, they can also visit on different days. The vineyard upgrade offer can be redeemed at Biddenden Vineyards until the end of October 2027, provided visitors retain their Spa Valley Railway tickets. The 10% railway discount applies to standard train services, excluding dining trains and special events, and is valid until (add date). Passengers can join the train at Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge or Eridge.

Spa Valley Railway train tickets are valid for all-day travel and are priced from £16 for adults and £15 for seniors, while children aged 2-15 travel free with a fare-paying adult. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £32.

Alongside the train journey itself, visitors can enjoy hot, cold and alcoholic drinks, as well as light refreshments from the bar or buffet car. The railway also offers a wide range of pre-bookable dining experiences throughout the summer, including Afternoon Tea, Cream Tea, Fish and Chips, Ploughman’s, and Sausage and Mash events, as well as themed experiences such as Whisky Trains, Gin Trains, Cheese Trains, Murder Mystery evenings and Faulty Towers dining events.

Spa Valley Railway runs from Tunbridge Wells West through High Rocks and Groombridge to Eridge, offering passengers the chance to enjoy one of the South East’s most scenic heritage railway journeys.

Booking information: The 10% discount can be redeemed at any of the Spa Valley Railway stations and is not available online. Vineyard experiences must be booked separately with Biddenden Vineyards.
