Honey, the other nectar from Champagne AR Lenoble!

Honey, the other nectar from Champagne AR Lenoble!

AR Lenoble has always been committed to a culture of sound, sustainable agricultural practices in its vineyards with sustainable development firmly integrated into its core philosophy.

This approach has been formalised at AR Lenoble for many years in the form of the Charte Environnement de la Maison although AR Lenoble was officially recognised by its peers in September 2012 when it was awarded the Haute Valeur Environnementale certification.

This certification rewards 20 years of friendly practices established in the vineyard, concretely:
– Zero use of chemical fertilizers
– Practically zero use of any herbicide
– Drastic limitations on phytosanitary inputs to fight against powdery mildew and downy mildew
– A special focus on biodiversity with the introduction of hedges, orchards, slopes, trees and walls

It is a comprehensive and balanced vision particularly well-suited to the northern location of Champagne where any generalisation of organic viticulture is impossible. It is also a very relevant approach that pays particular attention to biodiversity in order to improve the entire quality of the environment, a determining factor in disease prevention.

AR Lenoble reserves certain plots of the 10 hectares it owns in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly on the Côte des Blancs to plant trees and flowers. Beehives were installed in 2014 and for the second year in a row, the estate has produced a limited amount of honey.

“This year’s honey was harvested from the lieu-dit of “Le Vallon” in Chouilly at the end of last week,” said owner Anne Malassagne. “It is the fruit of the labours of the 70,000 bees who spent the summer there foraging among the flowers. Sweet and floral, it is meant to be enjoyed without any respect for moderation.”

AR Lenoble “Le Vallon” Honey 2015 will be exclusively available for sale through London’s Stannary Street Wine Company, www.stannarywine.com, owned by Flint Wines.
